Recurring Dreams
Welcome to Polyhedral Dreams. I am Audrey Grace Winter, the mind behind Winter Star Games. If you haven't heard of me, I'm not terribly surprised. A little bit about me, then, before we begin:
I am the author of Simple Fantasy Adventure, a retro-clone of Iron Crown's Lord of the Rings Adventure Game from the 1990s, as well as SFA Revised, a more recent update. Under my birth name / deadname / "necronym", I was the line editor for Michael Wolf's Warrior, Rogue & Mage, author of Discovered Lore for that game, and the co-author of Resolute, Adventurer & Genius. I also worked as editor for Jay Steven Anyong's BADASS.
I've been involved with TTRPGs since 1982. My very first game was Moldvay Basic D&D, and it was love at first dice roll. My father bought me all of the Mentzer BECMI boxes, as well as Star Frontiers, Mechwarrior 1e and Palladium's Robotech. I came back to D&D with AD&D 2e as the 80s turned into the 90s, and then I discovered the World of Darkness.
I've run the shadows in Seattle, and I've slung spells in Mythic Europe. I bought way too many d20 books in the 2000s, skipped D&D 4e and dove back in headfirst again with 5e (both 2014 and 2024). These days, I'm in love with the 2d20 games from Modiphius, but I never forget my roots.
This blog exists to give me room to explore my thoughts the way I used to be able to on Google+ (RIP, never forget) and can't without huge threads of character-limited posts on Mastodon. Posts will necessarily be irregular; some may come in a flurry, while others may be few and far between. It's a chaotic world inside my head.
The name "Polyhedral Dreams" was one I first applied to another blog, many years ago -- before and during the changeover from D&D 3.5 to 4e. I still think it's a good name, so I've used it here as well. Here's hoping you, dear reader, may derive some value from my multisided dreams.
